Playgroup Information
Playgroups are a lot of fun and are a great way to socialize your little ones with children of their own age.
Playgroups are held once a week at the homes of playgroup members or at a favorite local park. Each member chooses which week(s) they are available to host and where they would like to host. The kids play together, while the mom’s chat and, in many cases, build wonderful friendships. When the weather is warmer, we play outside, and in winter, inside. We usually have about 5-7 mom/child combos at each playgroup.
If you decide to serve any refreshments when you host in your home, please remember not to include anything with any type of nuts. We have a few kids with severe allergies.
If your child is particularly attached to certain toys, it is a good idea to put those away before hosting a playgroup to avoid having your child upset by others playing with their ‘special’ toys.
How do I join a MOMS Club playgroup?
To join a playgroup, you must first be a member of the MOMS Club of Fort Collins - West chapter (Join via e-mail). Once you’re a club member, you will be sent more information. Our playgroups are split by the school year and ages of the children attending. Here are the groups by birthday:

- After your child is assigned to the appropriate playgroup you will be placed on that groups email distribution list so that you receive a schedule and directions to playgroup each week. (read on below)
- Playgroup schedules are usually completed two months in advance. Hosting the playgroup is not required as part of membership, but it is encouraged so that no one mom has to host more than once every 4 –6 weeks.
- Please RSVP to the host so they know how many guests to expect.
- If you are hosting please send out directions to your playgroup 48 hours in advance.
- If you are scheduled to host but cannot due to a sick child or a change of schedule please try to switch dates with another host or find another host for your date. Email the playgroup coordinator whenever you switch, change or cancel playgroup.
- It is the choice of each individual member to open their home to MOMS Club members and their children. Hosting a playgroup in our homes means that we accept the possibility of toys and other things being broken. While it hasn’t occurred yet, it is all a part of having our young children play together.
- When the weather is nice, you are always welcome to host playgroup at your favorite local park instead of at your house. Please keep this in mind when being asked to sign up to host playgroup.
Playgroup Code of Conduct
- Members of the MOMS Club must treat each other with courtesy and respect.
- The MOMS Club does NOT tolerate the use of foul language.
- Parents are responsible for their children’s behavior at all times.
- Hitting, biting, pushing and other physically violent behavior must be dealt with immediately by that child’s parent. It is NOT an option to allow that behavior to continue.
- If you, your child or a member of your family is sick (i.e. green or colored runny nose, vomiting, persistent cough, etc.), please refrain from attending any MOMS Club activity for the health safety of the other members and their children.
- If a child’s behavior is persistently physically violent or dangerous, then that child will be asked to refrain from participation in MOMS Club activities.
- Should a child’s physically violent behavior continue when the child returns to activities, the child may be removed from MOMS Club until his/her behavior has improved to where they can safely interact with other children.
- Activities planned for MOMS Club are only allowed for MOMS Club members. I.e. it is not allowed to make a playgroup day into a family/other friend’s birthday party.
- If a member violates the Code of Conduct for the MOMS Club of Fort Collins, that members membership can and will be terminated
Playgroup Guidelines
- Read and abide by the Code of Conduct.
- Hosting a playgroup is not a requirement for being part of a playgroup
- Hosting is voluntary. If you'd like to host but feel your house is too small consider hosting at a park or public venue safe for kids.
- Sometimes things get broken or a little dirty. This is a risk any host accepts when volunteering to host at their home.
- All homes should be as baby/child proofed as possible.
- If you are bringing a sibling (older or younger) it is the parents responsibility to ensure they have enough activities to keep them occupied. Please do not bring ill siblings to playgroup.
- Hosts are not required to serve snacks or drinks at playgroup. If you do serve snacks, make sure there are absolutely no nuts in them. We do have children with nut allergies in the Club.
